Antibiotic Properties in Herbs

There are several all natural herbal antibiotics that everyone should keep on hand regularly. These herbs are extremely useful for dealing with almost any kind of mild infection or sickness, are quite inexpensive, and the pill forms can be stored for a year or more at room temperature.
Garlic - Garlic is a powerful antibiotic herb which should always be in your medicine or food cabinet.
Garlic contains a natural compound known as Allicin, which is more powerful than standard Penicillin.
Garlic works wonderfully fighting infections both internally and out.
It can be used by mouth for fighting bacterial infections inside your body such as a throat infection, ear infection, sinus infection, kidney infection, bladder infection and so on.
Garlic can also be used on the outside of your body, as an external topical application. This works for killing fungus infections such as athlete's foot, vaginal yeast infections, and oral thrush.
Golden Seal - Golden seal is another very powerful natural antibiotic herb which works wonderfully for fighting almost any kind of infection.
Golden Seal is most often used internally for throat, sinus, and ear infections. It's also excellent for any other infections including kidney, bladder and yeast.
Unlike garlic, putting Golden Seal on a yeast or fungus infection externally doesn't normally kill the infection. This herb is best taken internally for best results, but it can be used in salves to help prevent infections of scraps, burns and wounds.

Echinacea - This is another excellent antibiotic herb which is particularly useful for glandular infections and problems.
Echinacea is most often used for ear aches, strep throat and lymph gland problems.

Kelp - This sea herb is not commonly thought of as an antibiotic, but it acts as one in your body by stimulating your thyroid to produce more iodine. Iodine kills bad bacteria that causes sickness inside your body.
Kelp is quite useful against strep throat when used in tea form. Since this herb is high in natural iodine itself, drinking it in tea form will coat the throat, allowing the iodine to kill the strep bacteria.Cumin
Cumin is considered an effective remedy for indigestion. It is also taken to relieve gas, diarrhea, and cramps.
Garlic
Garlic has been used as a medicine and a food since the time of the Egyptian Pharaohs. It fights hardening of the arteries through its proven ability to lower cholesterol. It also has proven antibiotic properties and a mild anti-clotting effect on the blood.
Ginger
Evidence suggests that ginger can help relieve many conditions including: motion sickness, digestive complaints, arthritis, high cholesterol and dangerous blood clots.
Lemongrass
Therapeutic properties include diuretic, anti-flatulence, anti-flu and antibacterial properties are contained in the essential oil of lemongrass.
Mint

Onions
Scientists suspect that onions help prevent cancer not only by putting the breaks on the development of dangerous tumors but also by stomping out harmful bacteria that may cause the start of stomach cancer.
Romaine Lettuce
Romaine Lettuce is one of the best vegetable sources of beta-carotene. A study at the University of Illinois shows that high levels of beta-carotene inhibited the growth of prostate-cancer cells by 50%.
Shallots
Shallots, a miniature member of the allium family (onions) contain high levels of vitamin A. Just one tablespoon contains 600 IU of vitamin A. This essential nutrient helps keep immunity strong and protects against vision problems such as cataracts.
Sweet Basil
Sweet basil is used extensively in aromatherapy for ailments such as stress, migraine, colds and hay fever. It has anti-spasmodic, appetizing and carminative properties. As mentioned, it is quite effective for tension headaches, exhaustion and digestive upsets such as stomach cramps, constipation and diarrhea.
Turmeric
A spice very rich in antioxidants, including a compound called curcumin. In studies, curcumin has been shown to reduce the risk of colon cancer by 58%. Other research suggests it may help prevent skin cancer also. Turmeric has been used for indigestion, gas, bloating, stomach pain, cramps, diarrhea, and bladder inflammation.
